Waves – Ultimate v2024.11.29 for Windows [R2R]

NoteIf you already have an older version of Waves Ultimate from R2R installed
, this release can be installed over it.
You will also need to replace the old WaveShell files with the new ones.Uninstall/Cleanup

If this is your first Waves installation, skip this step.

Run the included “R2R_Kill_Waves_Background_Process.cmd”.
Make sure COSMOS.exe, WavesLocalServer.exe, WavesPluginServer.exe are not running.
Uninstall the previous release.
Uninstall Waves Central.

Clean paths:

• Your VST2, VST3, AAX plugins directory
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\
• %PROGRAMFILES%\Waves Central\
• %PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio\
• %APPDATA%\COSMOS\
• %APPDATA%\Waves Audio\
• %LOCALAPPDATA%\Waves Audio\
• %PUBLIC%\Waves Audio\

=> If you think you are inexperienced, search for “WaveShell*” on your C drive, then delete everything.
=> We always see people having problems with old shells that should be removed before doing this.

Clean registry:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Waves\

Install Runtime

If you are using SoundGrid, install/update SoundGrid drivers.

Google “Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable”, download from Microsoft and install/update:
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022 x64
Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (used by recent web plugins)

Install Waves

Unzip our installer, run and install.
Scan or rescan plugins from your DAW.

If you have updated, a full rescan is recommended.
If you are using sample-based instruments,
find the instruments path from the application launcher or GUI.

Restarting Waves background servers

This is useful when a background process is doing something wrong.

When background servers are not working correctly, the following problem occurs.
• Plugin scanning fails (WaveShells returns 0 plugins)
• Preset browser does not work
• COSMOS (also in CR8 Sampler browser) does not start or exits without license error
• Some plugins like KeyDetector, Waves Gemstones cause license error

Run the included “R2R_Kill_Waves_Background_Process.cmd”.
Run these EXE files manually.

• “%PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio\WavesLocalServer\WavesLocalServer.bundle\Contents\Win64\WavesLocalServer.exe”
• “%PROGRAMDATA%\Waves Audio\WavesPluginServer\WavesPluginServerV15.1.bundle\Contents\Win64\WavesPluginServer.exe”

Then rescan the plugin.
